Blades in the Dark Heist Deck, Print and Play

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Blades in the Dark is a game of scoundrels pulling heists in the haunted city of Duskwall. This print and play deck of cards is designed to help game masters put together a heist on the fly.

With 50 obstacles, 40 important people, and 40 treasures, the game master's creativity can be inspired with Duskwall-flavored possibilities. Draw two people cards, a treasure card, and three obstacle cards, then figure out which person is hiring the crew and which is the target. Decide on an objective based around the treasure and the mischief it might inspire. Pick a location for the heist and weave the obstacles into it. You've got a foundation, now improvise the rest!

A document shows the "card backs" for obstacles, so once you draw one you can consult for some ideas to make it easier or harder. The cards are also great for seeing who showed up at the party, what heist a rival is researching, or who tumbles through the door as a survivor of an assassination attempt!

Would it be possible to format this as a simple table? Love the resource but tough to use without fully printing out. TIA!

Not seen them anywhere. Musing printing my PDF at somewhere like Doxdirect and then sleeving them in CCG card sleeves.

These are great! Just played my first Blades session, which was completely impromptu, resulting from a last-minute cancellation in my DnD group. Downloaded these, grabbed a few at random and had a really fun, no-prep heist. Great product!

Yeah but the shipping to Europe is more than the cost of the product.
A POD version from DTRPG might not be the same quality but would still be a welcome option.

DTRPG's POD option has always been fantastic for me.

There's a link inside the PDF to a physical and "more complete" version. Would have been nice to get the extra stuff from the physical version in the PDF too.

It looks like the current version contains all of the cards that are in the physical deck the author noted above. So despite that statement being in the pdf this should be everything.

Be useful to number the cards, so I can just roll and reference the cards straight off the PDF.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
