Newbie question (never played 4AD): do the decks in this series also contain all the rooms cards (cards depicting the rooms and their eventual content symbols) that can be layed out to form the dungeon for each adventure ?

Or do the rooms have to be designed on paper no matter of what?

Hi, Marco.
There -are- some card decks available from the 4AD line that are used in the way you asked about, laid out to form the dungeon. But no, the adventure decks in the series (like this deck, The Silent Mill) do not have physical room cards, and you will need to map the playing area (dungeon, etc...) yourself, using the room prompts in the upper left corner.
I hope this answers your question!

For the cards that show both a room and a corridor how are those handled? Do you choose which you enter first?

Hi, Tim
When you draw a card to establish the shape of the room, you will notice that the illustration will either be black & white, or will be shaded yellow.
You will now draw the NEXT card off of the top of the deck, and reference the special instructions that correspond to the room's color.
Let's say you drew a card with a yellow shaded area.
- draw the next card, and the yellow shaded text reads ROOM, special.
- now draw the NEXT card, and read the text in the SPECIAL section.

This is how the system works for every instance: read the prompt on the current card, and draw the next card to get the next bit of information. Most rooms and encounters will require you to draw 2-4 cards to get the whole picture. In this way, you mill through the deck pretty quickly, and since you will always be reshuffling, it will give you pretty good variety in the rooms and encounters.
I hope this was helpful!

Two points need clarification regarding Squirmella:
1) "Heroes have 2 turns to roll an explosive attack roll to kill her" I think it means 2 turns after the 5 summoned Screechers are taken care of.
2) I suppose a morale roll after the 3rd Screechers is killed.

1) The card specifically says "At 0 Life, she goes into a cocoon ... heroes have 2 turns to roll an explosive Attack roll to kill her".

Under Killmoulis Guardian card 11 "animal companion has 2 in 6 of being killed when it sees the Guardian."

Who is the animal companion mentioned? An Elf is?

So, with a 1 or 2 in a D6 roll, the animal companion Hero (whoever it is) will just die instead of taking some damages first?

No proper description of how this integrates into 4AD means potential buyers have literally no idea how this works.

Thank you for the comment, good point! Added a "How to play" card preview. Later we going to make a video review, it should solve the issue.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
