The Imperium Chronicles Combat Card Game is an easy-to-understand, fast-paced game between two players. During each game, players alternate between being the Attacker and the Defender, the winner of each round getting one point. The first player to reach ten points, wins the game.

Note: You only need to buy ONE deck for BOTH players to play! A single deck includes everything you need for two players!

Unit Cards

The attacker & defender both play one Unit Card each round.Unit Card

1. Tier. The tier determines how many of this card can be in a player’s deck (i.e., Tier I = 1 card, Tier II = 2 cards, Tier III = 3 cards).

2. Attack Value. The attack value is used by the attacker for that round. If this value plus any attack modifiers is equal to or greater than the defender’s total defense value, the attacker wins the round.

3. Defense Value. The defense value is used by the defender for that round. If this value plus any defense modifiers is greater than the attacker’s total attack value, the defender wins the round.

4. Attack & Damage Type. The attack types (Melee or Ranged) and damage types (Blunt, Pierce, Slash, Energy, Kinetic, or Explosive) are used with modifiers (see Modifier Cards).

5. Unit Name & Faction. Each unit has a unique name and belongs to a particular faction (Feran, Neutral, or Warlock Industries). Lieutenant and Boss cards have a higher tier and greater attack/defense values than regular (Minion) units.

Modifier Cards

Attack and Defense Modifier Cards are used to increase the attack and defense values during a round. Multiple Modifier Cards can be used each round.

Attack Modifier. These cards will increase the attack value. They must be used with the same damage type listed on the card.

Defense Modifier. These cards increase the defense value versus the type of attack or damage type of the attack.

Round Sequence

Step 1. The “Attacker” card is placed in front of the player who is the attacker for that round.

Step 2. The attacker puts down a Unit Card (attack value is used).

Step 3. The defender puts down a Unit Card (defense value is used).

Step 4. The attacker puts down an Attack Modifier Card, or passes (i.e., doesn't put down mod card).

Step 5. The defender puts down a Defense Modifier Card, or passes (i.e., doesn't put down mod card).

Steps 4 & 5 are repeated until both players have passed.

Step 6. If the attacker’s total attack value is equal to or higher than the defender’s total defense value, the attacker wins the round.

Step 7. If the defender’s total defense value is greater than the attacker’s total attack value, the defender wins.

Step 8. Whoever wins the round (attacker or defender) gets one point.

Step 9. All cards that were played (laid down) are discarded to each player’s respective discard pile.

Step 10. At the start of the next round, the previous defender becomes the attacker and the previous attacker becomes the defender.

Are there more "complete" rules available for this game? I have questions about things like hand size, draw limits, etc. If both players just get "all their cards and have at it" that is fine, but there are usually starting hand sizes and limits to how many cards that can be drawn in games like this. Thanks.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
