Dungeon Solitaire: Labyrinth of Souls (Poker-size Cards w/tuckbox)

Selected Option:

Note: The Poker-size cards come in a tuckbox. The Quickstart Rules are a free PDF download. Complete rulebooks are sold separately.

Dungeon Solitaire: Labyrinth of Souls is a fantasy game for tarot cards. Defeat monsters, disarm traps, open doors, and navigate mazes as you explore a dangerous dungeon. Collect treasure and magic items, gain skills, and gather companions. But beware, the dungeon is vast, and death awaits those who linger too long. If your torches burn out you will be lost forever in the darkness. If your rations run dry, you will starve or go mad. And the dungeon itself is a force of corruption, threatening all who enter.

The Labyrinth of Souls tarot cards are exclusively illustrated by Josephe Vandel for the Dungeon Solitaire: Labyrinth of Souls game. This tarot deck includes fully illustrated major arcana, court cards and aces, with numbering based on the Tarot de Marseille. The 2-10 of each suit features easy to read pips. The 90 card deck also features a title card, a logo card, and ten fully illustrated extra arcana cards specially designed for the Labyrinth of Souls advanced game, with titles like Alchemist Fire, Outer Ocean, Holy Mountain, and The Dragon!

PDF Quickstart Rules are available for free, and include the Basic Rules, a walkthrough, and quick references. The complete rulebook is sold separately, and adds Expert and Advanced Rules as well as six game variations: Two-Player Cooperative, Dragon's Lair, Undead Hordes, Mega-Dungeon, Campagin Mode, and Cartomancy.

"It is called Dungeon Solitaire ... and it is brilliant." -- John Payne, Sycarion Diversions

"It's an amazing game ...." -- Tim Snider, The Savage Afterworld

"This game keeps calling me back, and I haven’t stopped thinking about it. Especially when playing “campaign mode,” the story-telling element really shines. I haven’t had this much fun inventing fantasies and character backgrounds for nobody’s pleasure but my own since I was 16 and discovered Dungeons & Dragons." -- Geoffrey Greer, Past Go

"The best thing going for DS-LoS is that it's a lot of fun .... I found myself playing hand after hand trying to beat my score. Sometimes the game is just brutally punishing and I'll get killed by a monster on my very first turn, but most of the time I have enough options available that I'm able to enjoy a strong feeling of being challenged. That's hard enough to do with a video game, let alone with a deck of cards." -- James Bulls, Left-Hand Tarot

"Overall I give Dungeon Solitaire five out of five hearts – go play it right away!" -- K-Slacker, Mutants & Magic

"An extremely awesome, super fun game."

"Amazingly detailed and well thought out .... Absolutely fantastic."

"I have been consumed by this game and overjoyed at how much clever thought went into the making of this project."

"There are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of solitaire variants out there, but this is exactly what I've been looking for since the dawn of time. It's amazing something like this hasn't been created until now."

"Received my book today and absolutely love it."

"Arrived and I couldn't stop playing it .... :-)"

How does the quality of these cards compare to the Game Crafter version? The GC version feels and looks like they're already fraying at the edges, but they cost the same as the DTRPG version here. Want to know if they're markedly better before spending.

What color is the back for these cards supposed to be? Tan/beige, or red?

I was under the impression that they should be tan from the pics and videos I've seen.

I ordered both this deck and Devil's Playground. They both came with red backs.

Drivethru sent me a new deck since I believed it to be a mistake, but they arrived with red backs as well.

Am I missing something? Do both deck come with the exa c t same red back?

Is there an estimate how long the “print to order” usually takes?

A little disappointed that the "tarot" deck arrived and it's really a poker deck with extra cards, it even uses stardard french suites. Maybe I would have known this if I watched the video, I guess? Why was the decision made to make a game for use with tarot cards and then *not* make the custom deck for it tarot cards? I could have just sleeved paper cards to make the difference with a poker deck.

I'm confused. The download from this page gives me a quickstart edition of the game - which is great - but I was expecting cards for printing. Have I misunderstood?

If I wanted to sleeve my cards, what size sleeve do I need? Do they fit standard card sleeves (MtG, Fantasy Flight, etc) and cases or are they an odd size?

Yes, cards will fit in a standard card sleeve! Sorry for the delayed response.

Hi Matthew, I see from your website that there is this deluxe edition as well as a standard edition of cards. Can you please explain what's different between the two? Thanks!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
