Here is a link to add comments for those wanting to edit the reference guide. Please add something to the first page or DM me on Reddit (LostWriter) for how you want to be attributed. I had to break the book up because it was breaking Google.

Let's fix this. You can use the "View Rulebook" link to go to a shared Google Drive folder. It will contain a document for each main chapter for commenting and editing. I also included the formatted reference book that includes the 4th edition cards. If you see anything there that should be changed, let me know as well.

I don't know if you're accepting proofreading comments on the guidebook at this stage, but on the page describing the Alignments, the fourth (Otter) alignment has its description unfinished, where you started a sentence but didn't conclude it, when about to give an example of a story character exhibiting that alignment.

This deck and guidebook is AMAZING. I bought the earlier edition of the deck, and I'm excitedly looking forward to the next edition you release! Thank you so much for creating it!

If you would ever like someone to proofread or workshop ideas with you for the deck, please feel free to reach out; I really adore this project. Wishing you all the best!

Thank you so much! I think I am ready to get help. A few others have offered. I need to find a way to set up a collaboration where everyone who wants to help can update the reference guide.

One approach that might work: first, copy the guide into a Google Doc (or several, if you want to keep the size of the file small and maneuverable). Second, allow people to make comments but not direct edits to the file. You'd see the comments as annotations, and you could quickly apply those changes or dismiss the suggestion if it's not suitable. A Discord server or other chat environment could also support the process better than the comments section here on DriveThru. No pressure to adopt this approach; it's just one I've had good experience with in an academic context!

I have been editing and combining content from my ideas over the years. I hope you love it and I do apologize again for taking so long. Whenever I get close, I have an "AHA!" moment and fix something nagging me.

I have the mechanic for outlining a story using the cards, which is mostly complete now. It follows a 7-point story structure using a Tarot spread. The first 3 cards help define the protagonist, supporting character, and antagonist.

The Zodiac signs on each card can be used to add a layer of complexity to your characters. I provide story hooks, narrative ideas, and variations of these signs in characters in different genres.

The attribute icons help set the story's theme: Safety, Esteem, Physical Needs, Personal Growth, Transcendence, or Belonging.

The planet icons on each card can be used to add hooks, plot turns, pinch points, climactic moments, and resolutions if your story gets stuck. Do you want just a resolution - where do you think...See more

I am behind in posting the update to the reference book, but it should be close tomorrow. I got a little carried away with adding stuff.

I am so sorry. Life got in my way. I am finishing up the smaller reference book to post this week. I am also finalizing a game rule book to take advantage of the deck.

Considering purchasing, but also wondering if the problem/confusion of the two "XV of Trump" & no "XVI" cards that Jean-Louis C encountered has been fixed?

Warning: This is not PWYW. It forces at least a nine dollar price. Why is this?

The price is the cost of printing the cards. If you pay the lowest price, you are paying for materials (I get nothing, which is perfectly fine. I donate anything I get to art and theatre organizations anyway). I have no control over the material costs. I am also hoping to upload a print-at-home version.

Have the cards been updated to address the problem, if any, mentioned by Jean-Louis C (below)? I've been considering the purchase of these cards for some time. The design seems to be one of the best as far as these multi-purpose decks go.

15 properties in addition to the suit and the value. A bit confusing. With such a complexity it is difficult to check everything and I confess that I haven't got all the logic behind the distribution of the characters so far. There is two "XV of Trump" and no "XVI" >> 5 of Flower and 8 of Shields. I suspect a mistake.

Just received my cards, and have this same printing mistake (two "XV of Trump" cards, no "XVI" card)... I'm guessing it's probably a tiny mistake of the missing "I" off the two. For me, it won't matter, but it may matter for others.

I am so sorry I missed this! I will update this for the next printing. And yes, they are VERY complicated. I am breaking them down into smaller decks. 1 deck for each symbol type, and the simple tarot/story teller deck without all the extras. That will be awhile though.

Hi Jeff,
Has the error been fixed?
I've recently been searching for a deck just like this for my own amusement and solo gaming.
But seeing as your last message was a couple of days ago I thought I'd just ask to clarify if the issue was fixed before I ordered a physical deck.
Hope to hear from you soon, and blessings to yo
P.S. I want the confusing deck with ALL the symbols but without the xv trump error. Just to clarify and make it clear.
I don't find them complicated at all. Seems very good actually. Although I'd say perhaps adding something to do with a standard RPG oracle "yes,no,maybe" symbol.
Also an image of the back of the cards and the custom deck box.

Not yet. Still waiting on the proofs. Fixed the trump errors. I also had the decan spread wrong on the cards and fixed that. A few cards have new names. I will update the main listing once I can approve the new cards. I'm keeping the symbols; however, I am updating the reference guide so that someone can use it with their tarot deck. I am almost done curating my notes from the past few decades. The reference guide will be a little over 300 pages when done. It still needs a ton of editing. I just finished a section for each card with story prompts and ideas for each card in a protagonist, antagonist, or supporting character role.

Thats great news. What great timing I'd say. This is taking a lot of work out of what I was expecting to do myself and the values of the cards seem very precise and align to the criteria I would set. The details of having the decan correct, seem to imply you are taking your utmost to retain the original meanings including that of sacred geometry, so they all align correctly. I can see this with your elemental symbols matching the suit, and the tarot and standard suits chosen with care.
Also apologies, I've since seen you have action dice that covers the RPG oracle (yes/no/maybe). Maybe Special could be "uncertain"? Let me know if you need help or someone to proof-read the reference guide.
I am hyped and excited to receive the physical cards so I can start rolling my polyhedral's and scratch out some sort of character sheet for a solo gaming session. I think with these cards the possibilities could be quite limitless.
I am not sure how to, but I'd love a notification of when the deck...See more

I was not fond of the proofs I got, so I'm sending another file. The reference book is up, and I'll edit it over the next few months. The companion app is starting up, which should be a lot of fun. It goes with a set of rules similar to Fate and uses the information from the cards to generate story elements for the Oracle (GM). That will probably take me until next Christmas since I have a full-time job, and it's new to me. But I wanted to learn to write one, and now I have a reason to.

The Yes/No/Maybe I forgot to add in the print. You could do Yes= Spades/Clubs. No =Hearts/Diamonds and Maybe =Shield/Roses. The reference deck is almost ready to go as well. I'll add them to it. Those have individual cards for each planet, zodiac sign, chakra, etc. But also have cards for all the ideas for plot elements.

Glad to hear you are trying the Fate and Oracle story elements. Nice that you have the reason to carry on the project. Just a note, the link for the 4th Edition is broken.

I'm enjoying the cards. I like the changes you've made to the traditional NA tarot cards. How is the reference coming?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
