BLACK SPIRITS: WAYWARD AND WEATHERED is a massive expansion for the popular BLACK SPIRITS: COMBAT CARDS game system, a supplement that replaces dice components in board games based on extremely popular dark fantasy action RPG video games that test the mettle of players' souls to use cards for their combat systems rather than dice. Expand on the tactics established in that core set to enrich virtually every aspect of the board game. Support and customize your specific build with specialized stat cards, use completely new and intricate playstyles with brand new character class cards, dive into exploration and adventure with discovery cards, or accept a new level of challenge with affliction cards. Or include them all for a rich and tactical experience full of hard decisions and fraught with peril!

Stat Cards

Stat cards give parties a brand new element of player progression. Stats no longer only act as gatekeepers to better gear, but also influence moment-to-moment play. Each card has a trade-off that embodies that stat, either reflecting the character's core capabilities, a scaling attribute when using gear that requires the stat, or completely unique effects.

Class Cards

Support your favorite playstyle, or take advantage of new and outlandish strategies with brand new character class cards. Included are two varieties of card for each class: a card that expands on the existing character playstyles from Black Spirits: Combat Cards, as well as a set of cards that enable a distinct playstyle. Spread toxic fumes as an alchemist assassin, trade pain for power as a blood mage cleric, raise the dead as a necromancer sorcerer, stay focused in battle as a herald monk, or include all of your class's cards to play a hybrid style.

Afflictions

Veteran players are encouraged to ramp up the challenge, or play a new spin on the game, with affliction cards. These come in two types, maladies and scenarios. The former represent a sickness, injury, or personality flaw unique to your character that will hamper you on your quest. Scenarios change the landscape for all players, including transforming encounters into a poison swamp, adding lethal new "experiments" to already deadly foes, or removing repetition from the game entirely.

Discoveries

Players who want reasons to return to earlier encounters (or reasons to avoid them) can collect discovery cards: small optional quests that give players an added benefit for accomplishing specific feats.

As with the Black Spirits: Combat Cards core set, Black Spirits: Wayward and Weathered is drop-in with no modifications, house rules, or tweaks necessary to the board game played. It's built with the latest sets of those board games in mind, but is also compatible with earlier versions of those games, so you can inject new life (or of course, death) into your already-owned games regardless of what your collection looks like.  It is also fully compatible with Black Spirits: Remnants, and enhances that set, but does not require it for play.

So just like with Black Spirits: Combat Cards, all players need to do is create their decks, plan carefully, and steel themselves for death.
