Shogifuda is a unique new Boardgame that combines the aesthetic appeal of Hanafuda with the skill and rules of Shogi, two classical games and concepts from Japan.

All you need to play is the card deck itself, but we do advise that you grab a simple black/uniform rectangular playmat or cloth to be able to represent the 3 x 7 grid in which the 'cards' will be placed or (when acting as Shogi-pieces) can move. 

The individual cards show a motif from a 'suit' of 4, as well as a Shogi-piece. For ease of reference, the name of the suit and the type of Shogi piece are indicated to the left side of the card. 

This game encourages the players to bring some skill and strategy to the table, but it also has that element of 'luck' that you find in a typical Hanafuda setting, and no two games will be the same.

The artistic motifs for this version are mostly chosen from our native Alberta, Canada, but watch out for our other Shogifuda editions!

The download-option lets you access two pdf-files; the RGBA-format is more suitable to be viewed on-screen, and the CMYK-format is what most print shops prefer to process. You can download and keep both.

While the rules are also included in the printed card deck, we include them here as well for download, since the card-printed version may be a bit small for some readers. So please download them for your benefit (see the view rulebook link).

The cards will come without a tuckbox, but the last page in the rulebook contains a template to print'n'cut a tuckbox by yourself!
