BLACK SPIRITS: REMNANTS is a is an expansion for the popular BLACK SPIRITS: COMBAT CARDS game system, a supplement that replaces dice components in board games based on extremely popular dark fantasy action RPG video games that test the mettle of players' souls to use cards for their combat systems rather than dice. It expands on the philosophy of that set by introducing enhancements that add depth to your board game, with a goal focused on maximum value per dollar. It provides the same type of gameplay depth and similar design goals as BLACK SPIRITS: WAYWARD AND WEATHERED, the sprawling expansion to Combat Cards, but in a package half the size. The two sets can be played separately, but they also intertwine, so having both expansions becomes greater than the sum of each.

Stat Cards

Customize and control the development of your playstyle as you invest in attributes. As you upgrade your stats, stat cards allow you to fine-tune your deck so that each player can approach the challenges ahead in a unique fashion. Each stat has three options: an effect that gives utility to the worst card in your deck, a card that rewards you for prioritizing gear that emphasizes the stat, and a unique "ultimate" ability for each stat.

Training

In this dark world, even the most carefully laid plans can be blown asunder. Give yourself flexibility over the course of your campaign and reshape your deck with training cards. These cards give you greater options for how to use, select, or reshape the makeup of the stat cards you've chosen to build out your playstyle.

Scenarios

This set includes two transformative scenarios that completely change the makeup of the game. Venture to Distant Kingdoms, where you'll need to be equally prepared for both magical and physical onslaughts, or eliminate repetition in your game altogether by performing a Speedrun (of course, risking a few glancing blows on the way to the boss).

As with the Black Spirits: Combat Cards core set, Black Spirits: Remnants is drop-in with no modifications, house rules, or tweaks necessary to the board game played. It's built with the latest sets of those board games in mind, but is also compatible with earlier versions of those games, so you can inject new life (or of course, death) into your already-owned games regardless of what your collection looks like. It is also fully compatible with Black Spirits: Wayward and Weathered, and enhances that set, but does not require it for play.

So just like with Black Spirits: Combat Cards, all players need to do is create their decks, plan carefully, and steel themselves for death.
