BUILD YOUR OWN GALAXY!

Galaxy Builder Decks: Star Systems is a deck of double-sided cards of two types: Star Systems, showing various types of planetary systems for creating simple locations or sectors during worldbuilding or on the fly during a game. And Star System Traits, providing a focus or theme for each system, such as being a Core or Colony system, plus possible conflicts, employers, contacts, and missions associated with that theme. Pair these with Planet Cards to quickly create entire star systems or just the main planet location for your stories.

System cards are loaded with useful information, such as star types, habitable zones, sky color, vegetation, and star age. The habitable zone chart on the back is laid out like the Star System Mats for easy reference. Distances are marked in AU = Astronomical Units, the distance between the Earth and the Sun. Orbits are marked with days for an average Gv-type star like our sun, showing roughly how long a planet orbits depending on distance.

System Trait cards feature a roll table of conflicts on the front, catagorized by type and a few examples. On the back are listed mutual roll tables for Employer and Contact. You can use either of these separately for combine them to create different types of people who need your help. The bottom half of the back shows Missions by category: Combat, Diplomatic, Esionage, Exploration, Commercial, and Criminal. Four example jobs each are provided for each mission type, but feel free to mix and max from different cards.

The Galaxy Builder Decks Series

Galaxy Builder Decks are a series of system-neutral cards for worldbuilders and GMs to quickly create scifi settings and cultures right on your table. Pair Planet cards with Planet Trait cards for unique locations and encounters. Each deck is designed to work with others in the series to help fully flesh out your galaxy. I created this series for several reasons: 1) as a helpful worldbuilding tool for authors and gamemasters to quickly create believable settings, 2) to boost immersion, appearing on the table as a series of computer display screens, 3) to provide players with a sense of exploration and discovery while you play, and 4) as a modular overmap on the table for seeing where you are in the universe without having to draw circles over and over.

Notable inspirations (Franchises): Star Wars, Star Trek, Mass Effect, Alien, Firefly, Babylon 5, Elite Dangerous, Dune.
Notable inspirations (Games): Stellaris, Endless Space, Master of Orion, Starbound, Stars Without Number, Ironsworn Starforged.

Hi! Love the cards. Going to be a great resource! One question, though. At the bottom of the "Habitable Zone" area, what does "Gv-Avg" mean?

Thank you!

That means Gv Star Type Average orbital times (50 days at 0.02 AU, 1 yr at 0.8-1.2 AU, etc), comparable to our Sol System orbits. I need to add a callout to the card anatomy graphic for that.

Great, thank you for the clarification! That’s what I was leaning towards, but wasn’t sure. Great product, and I will be picking more of them up!

So, now we need more stars... When those B-, A- and F-types are coming in their own card? Actually I wanted them the very moment when I downloaded all these files. :D
I just love them! And about ideas, how about card for tiny asteroid type moons à la Phobos & Deimos (roll 1d6 for amount of orbiting boulders without being a ring). :D

Glad you like them! Bv, Av, and Fv cards are coming in the Planets 2 deck, as well as an additional Gv, Mv, and Miii card (still working on how something that big will fit, probably have some of it clip off the edges). The deck will also include grassland planets, city planets, ring worlds, and more. The next deck to release will either be Planets 2 or Cultures & Traits.

I like the idea of a Phobos/Deimos type card. Something like "Moonlet, Very Tiny Rocky World." Thanks for the great feedback!

Cool, can't wait. Systems with molten asteroids and volcanic worlds are just waiting those B and A stars to shine harsh light on them. :D
Wormhole/Collapsar and Jumpgate would also be nice. Not to mention brown and white dwarfs.......

You're in luck! Wormholes and jumpgates are slated for the "Planets 2" deck as well. Brown and White Dwarfs will more likely be in a supporting 9-card "Stellar Set".

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
