Very muchos muchos like the A Cruel Sea game. I like the quick playing format, the scenario selection is detailed and I do like the availability of several target and threat types. Again, this should be made into a mobile app someday.

Fun little 30 minute game, it is not a real sim but feels like one of the 80s 8 bit games - chunky visuals but solid game as you eat your sandwich. Many familiar names from the history of submarine warfare and some tongue-in-cheek references are here but be warned this is not exactly a detailed simulation though.

The game starts with your selection of the Era and the submarine you want to use, then you start your mission/campaign etc, drawing cards for target detection -> attack -> evasion from probable counter attack. Some of the targets that you can attack and escorts that can attack ( as a result of card drawing process ) are familiar figures such as HMS Compass Rose, USS England and that destroyer from the Bedford Incident Movie. Much much more enjoyable then playing Solitaire and I would love to see a simple computer game one day. It is sort of addictive ! as a game.

That being said, visuals do need some more effort. Maybe a bit more detail into the game like weather/wind/experience can be nice without increasing the complexity. All in all, this is a nice little game to while away the lunch break.

I really wish there was an mobile app version of this game...

As with the previous products by Obscure Battles, this is not just a game, but also a toolbox for you to use to create your own sceanrios. The attention to detail, and sheer information is staggering. An interesting take on a emerging type of warfare.

Great PnP game from an independent designer/publisher. Covers some very interesting and obscure (Well, duh) campaigns, both real and hypothetical, from post WW2 to the 1990s. If the stock scenarios are not that interesting for you, you may create your own. The in-depth and well-structured system offers players the opportunity to simulate any land engagement they wish from the Cold War era.

The difficulty is moderate but the game plays really fast. Optional card rules increases replayability value. Besides, the designer seems to update his work and create new content regularly.

This is a Coldwar battle construction set ...

You can set up any battle with engineer unit, irregulars, regular army air air units , off-map artillery etc. All included with simple rules.

Interesting PnP hex based game. Bought this a year ago and it is actually a fun to play game given the immense dept of vehicle inventory - u can just create any scenario u fancy and have a go at it. I tried Bush wars in Africa with French Planes and Chinese tanks to some what-ifs of Middleastern scenarios with some hypothetical equipment.

It is a fast player, too. U just print the maps and play OR u can drawm your own map using the hex map sheets and then play on it. My Favorite is the A3 sized sheets. Time to start playing is less then 5 mins with such a scenario. No lengthy setup or such.

On the negative side, maybe there are too much units - who cares for X variations of M48 or F4U Corsair but maybe some do...

These people must have had a lot of time on their hands. Amazing value for money given the replayability value.

This is definetely a keeper.
