Easily one of the best tools you can bring to the table to provide inspiration in any game or setting.

Aboard The Little Secret - A misfortune solo adventure: Book one

A cozy little adventure. Played with ShadowDark, using a randomly generated character. No effort required to adapt mechanically. Lasted about 2 hours but easily get that again if played through a second time with different choices. Will try the next installment.

I'm sorry but this isn't a game. It's a set of guuidelines that could be overlayed to an existing set of rules.

UPDATE 20230710: I feel it would work best as a set of house rules combined with something like Basic Fantasy RPG , Old School Essentials, White Box or 5E. If a player has enough experience with one or more of those other games are comfortable making on the spot rulings informed from that experience, they may not need the game system to hand.

Nothing to be sorry about, this is a perfectly reasonable opinion and I appreciate the feedback. Although I am curious, do you view other OSR titles compatible with B/X, or something like Tales of the Valiant that is compatible with 5e, as sets of guidelines rather than games? Maybe the terminology is worth revisiting, as I can totally see where you're coming from here.

Easier Solo Play

Easily digestable advice broken down into small discrete sections that can be read in 2-3 minute sittings. Having gamed solo for 18 months, tried out several of the popular and obscure solo systems and guides, there was still a wealth of advice I was able to take from this PDF then immediately apply to my game. Thanks for sharing

The Solo Adventurer's Toolbox

There's a lot to like about this toolbox and a little bit to do to be great. I'm going to start with the good. It covers nearly everything you could want from weather to dungeon generation. Everthing!

A couple minor complaints.

  • Not having page numbers on odd numbered pages. When printed, this is the page one is seeing when lifting so it's an ongoing annoyance.
  • Process flows to show how to combine the various tables top develop an adventure for people without DMing experience. This has been stinging me.

Anyway, highly recommended though I hope the author creates a revision to address usability for beginners.
