Picked this up a bit back. It is a great intro into shifting towards a fantasy game using the chronicles of darkness ruleset.

Product Review, Heirs to the Mountains of Madness by Joshua Heath

A product for the Mage 20th anniversary line, Heirs to the Mountains of Madness is a well written Jump start. The book sets the situation to get a mage chronicle or story off the ground immediately. It gives reasons not only for tradition cabals to be interested, but other groups like the Desperates or a cell from the Technocracy to have equal interest. This is all covered in a single page of the book.

After that the book covers a number of well written npcs, both traditions and Technocrats. This book is exactly what it advertises to be. The conclusion of the events set forward are left up to the Storyteller, which some may find this a determent or even just have a few options of what could play out. But I would like to point out this can be seen as an asset as well, it all depends on the style of the Storyteller at the helm. That all said I would, and likely will, make use of this product.

This supplement is a fantastic format to present an adventure in World of Darkness. It has some interesting personalities to use for this adventure or just to mine for your own game. I give this product 9 out of 10.

Progenitors Crash Cart, Issue 2
Publisher: White Wolf

The Progenitors Crash Cart took an interesting approach when organizing and presenting this book. All of the book spirals our from a single spindling point. This point is the fully fleshed our character Dr. Evan Grillard. The first chapter of the book covers the Doctor's history, current situation and a full character sheet. The following chapter after that covers in much greater details about organizations and the forces surrounding the Doctor and the city around him. The final go into merits, gear and rotes that would be used by progenitors. But all finding ways to connect back to this central npc.

It was a fresh approach and the book makes it easy to base a story or even a campaign off the information presented just using this book. From werewolf biker gang to an entrenched Verbrena covenant. Even a mention of a nearby Black Spiral Hive. But to learn more pick up the book for yourself and give it a read.

I should start this part with I'm not a good judge of art by any means. But, as much as I like this book I need to say, the art felt off. I like the art and the text, they seemed to having a jarring effect put together in this book. However, this is just my opinion.

This supplement is useful in the hands of a Storyteller. It has great detail and plenty of ideas to pull from. I give this product 7 out of 10.

SotM's Guide to Dying

Review of the Product, Secrets of the Masquerade, Guide to dying.

To begin this review I would like to start by saying I found this products organization, both in layout and presenting information, was Stellar. It is quickly apparent that this product was well thought out and had a clear focus. That focus was to help determine the the effect of one's type of death has on the wraith character and help to guide the the character creation choices.

The book is divided into 2 parts. The first touches on the different types of death a character may experience. The second is a few sample characters. I want to point out I really enjoyed the approach taken with the way these sample characters were written. Each is presented with a background from before their death with some possible life highlighted life choices. Then it presents a few possible the deaths that lead to their rebirth as a wraith, and how each of these deaths would impact the direction of their supernatural existence. This part drew me right into this product, and I want to make this stand out as an excellent way to help both players and storytellers. Especially if the task at hand focuses on a young wraith. This book will be a great tool.

If I had to hunt of a draw back for this product, I would say it is very line focused. This book would have little use outside of use in the Wraith line. But this a minor flaw and one that many product is expect to have. As well, it may have little impact in helping design a elder wraith, it is a product that focuses on the moment of death and not the centuries past.

All and all I enjoyed examining the pdf and find my insight to the Wraith line enriched by reading. I would give this product 7.5 out of 10.

Nightshade Academy: The Core Curriculum

I have waited nearly a year for a chance to buy this book. I was sadly disappointed for the price that I paid, I am not normally one to review something here. However, please do not waste money on this book. Out of the 644 items i have purchased from drivthru this is the worst. The layout was bad, example there were blank pages in the middle of the book at random. It looks more like a draft then a finished copy of a game supplement. Maybe my standards are too high, but this is awful. I like the concept behind the setting presented. Unfortunately, other then divine beings for religion and a few npc concepts, little in any mechanical or setting evolution of the rules are presented. I feel there are far better supplements and toolboxs out there that actually address good mechanics and structure to expanding the fate system well. This book is not one of them. I am struggling to find something more to say that is nice, but I will not be recommending this book to even the most hardcore of fate fans. I am sorry, but I hope this saves the next person ten dollars.

I found this to be a nice small expansion to my Kingdom based pathfinder game. The industrial yard is an interesting addition to my PCs city.
