This is actually an excellent Solo adventure. It is excellently written, the story is very interesting and thrilling, and the choose art is truly beautiful. I can't wait to play through the other parts of this series, there has been one thing which I found a tiny bit confusing however:

When you are required to make the Charisma (Persuasion) check on page 5, it is only explicitly stated that you gather your equipment if you fail the check but not if you succeed. It doesn't make much sense that you don't get your equipment back when you succeed the Charisma check, so I simply assumed that my character gathered her equipment anyway. Was my assumption correct?

Kind regards and keep up the fine work,

Milka

Mika, That's a good point! You should certainly get your gear upon a successful Charisma check. Sorry about that. Thanks for writing. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series. P.S. I'm currently getting part 5 into shape, so please keep your eyes peeled! I hope for it to be released this September.

As a fan of the Lone Wolf franchise, I actually like this format of solo adventures, but I prefer the style of the previous adventures from Elfypunk because they seem more fitting for these kinds of plots and better playable this way.

I also personally prefer if the adventure isn't tailor-made for a specific campaign setting, especially not the Forgotten Realms. I understand that the Forgotten Realms have become D&D's "default setting" these days, but I simply prefer settings which are a bit more exotic and unique, such as Ravnica, Eberron, Dragonlance or Mystara instead of the Forgotten Realms who always felt rather dull to me in comparison to other campaign settings.

For the usual amazing Elfypunk-plot and storytelling, I give this adventure still 3 points.

The Crystal Vault (Isle of Storms solo series)

Hello Elfypunk,

I started playing through your Shadow over Nettle and Isle of Storms series about two weeks ago, and they are among the best solo adventures I ever played. I love the plot, the unique ideas and the atmosphere. They are also well-balanced and easy to adapt for Player Characters of higher levels by simply increasing certain encounters. The visual layout of the adventures is excellent as well.

I have four little requests and suggestions, however.

1) For some reason, you changed the PFD-format from True PDF with scalable and markable text to scanned picture format, beginning with The Healing Well within the Isle of Storms series. Is there a special reason for that? True PDF's are much easier to read and to handle, especially on portal devices, at least for me.

2) It would be nice if the class and race of the player character would play a role more often, like for example a Ranger who owns a small hunting store and who gives discount to other rangers. Or an old traveling monk who is willing to share some of his insights and secrets with young monks.

3) Will the Isle of Storms series continued or is it finished now? I noticed you released the first adventure of a new series, so I was wondering. This leads me to point four:

4) I personally find it way better if an adventure is compatible with all D&D campaign setting than if it is tailor-made for the Forgotten Realms, like your newest adventure.

I give you overall 4 out of 5 stars for all of your adventures that you released so far.

Keep up the fine work and kind regards,

Milka

Hi Milka - Thanks for your review and your suggestions. I'm so glad you like the adventures! That really is so amazing to hear :) Replying to your points: 1) I'll definitely take a look at this and aim to upload new versions of the PDFs. 2) These are great ideas! I'll keep this in mind for future adventures. 3) I am very happy to continue with the Isle of Storms series. 4) This is really interesting to hear. I expected the opposite, that folks would prefer a Forgotten Realms setting. I am currently working on a new adventure for the Isle of Storms series. If you're signed up for the Elfypunk newsletter, I'll send you an email when it's ready. :)

I love the Idea and concept behind this and I will definitely use it in my own campaign setting. My only point of criticism is that some weapons lack descriptions.
