Savage Worlds Adventure Edition: Power Cards
Publisher: Pinnacle Entertainment

These are incredibly handy to have. I like having the basics of every power in the SWADE book broken out where I can give them to players to help them remember the powers they have and give them ideas for use. Definitely worth the purchase.

The Last Parsec: Core
Publisher: Pinnacle Entertainment

The Last Parsec is a little different than all the other Savage Worlds settings. This one does not have a single, master story arc going on in the background (like the Deadlands and ETU stories) and is a lot more open. But, that does not mean that story potential lacks. It also does not mean that you can't run a Plot Point Campaign in the Last Parsec. In fact, the supplements to this Core book provide some very nice Plot Point Campaigns. But, for opening up a galaxy of potential, that's where The Last Parsec excels. Make sure you get the SF companion.

I've started running this game for my friends using the One-Sheet (free on Pinnacle's Web site) of "The Unexpected Colony." The game flows quite smoothly and feels a lot more Science Fiction than if we were playing a Space Fantasy game. I think I might have just found my favorite setting for Savage Worlds...

And, as a side note, the conversion over to SWADE is incredibly simple. And, yes, I'd like to see a SWADE update to this product, but until then, I am completely able to run these stories in SWADE with the free conversion document available through Pinnacle.

Crystal Heart
Publisher: Up to Four Players
by Mason E. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 07/15/2020 20:14:55

As one of the first products released for the new Savage Worlds Adventure Edition (SWADE) rules, Crystal Heart gave a new spin to the feel of superheroes and postapocalypse. It looks and almost plays like fantasy, but, it has the tech from the Bygone Era to make it feel almost like Steampunk. So, as you can see, it's kind of a difficult game to classify. But, that's part of what makes it so much fun. Aviv and Eran created a great Web comic at uptofourplayers.com. The fact that they decided that, in the conceit of the comic, their friends happened to be using Savage Worlds as the system for their Crystal Heart game setting made introducing new players to the system so much easier.

Then, as they were writing it, SWADE was announced and they immediately shifted gears to make their new setting book for the new rules. This was then followed up by the characters in the comic upgrading to the new SWADE rules. The comic is, of course, still a great way to introduce new players to the system, possibly the best one for it. I tell all my new players to read it. I refer my seasoned players back to it.

And having played the setting with a group of guy friends from work for almost six months, albeit in pre-written adventures (of which there are enough to keep a game group going for about a year or so of weekly play for an hour, especially if you use the pre-release adventure) are enough to last for quite a while.

I would recommend this setting for any age and for any group. It can incorporate the sporadic play-style of children, the trying-to-be-adult style of teens, and adults who want to, sort of, play superheroes. I love the unique spin on the Powers and using only portions of them according to the disposition the crystal, slotted in your hero's chest. It makes you a superhero who can swap florbos crystal and get a different set of superpowers. It is one of the most fun settings, and one of the best setting books out there. Buy it and all its supplementary books too.

Savage Worlds Handbook: Perilous Places & Serious Situations
Publisher: Triple Ace Games

This product is excellent! It gives me an opportunity to think of other hazards that I might not have considered when setting up the adventure. Like the cover shows, why just set a battle with an enemy just in a rainstorm? Thunderstorm battles on rooftops are much more interesting. And that's what this product is for: to make your games more interesting. And, on the whole, it has ported over well to my SWADE games.
