Probably one of the most interesting games I've ever stumbled upon. This game understands its niche (a niche unique to it, certainly) and it goes after it like a hungry lion for the jugular. I'm happy we live in a world where a game like this exists. More specifically, I'm made happier by knowing the world is capable of resulting in this game. I never thought I had a need to be a teenager in the mid 90s running around a shopping mall, but apparently I do. That's why we need uniquely posited table-top RPG settings, to explore things we never thought possible. I never thought Visigoths vs Mall Goths would be possible, but I'm glad it exists.

1) The writing is hilarious 2) The gameplay is a mix of hilarious hijinks and tender moments that is wonderful, refreshing, and very much on theme with the game 3) The skins/characters are well thought out and have plenty of roleplaying opportunities within the fiction 4) I appreciate the effort of the author to make the anachronistic interplay MEANINGFUL beyond the ability to say GOTH WAR! There's a lot of nicely done nuance in the fiction, beyond an homage to 90s goth culture in suburbia. 5) Whenever I run it, my players love it. It works well both for one-shots and "campaign" adventures.

The mechanics are easy to sink your teeth into and the genre is easily understandable, along with all the tropes (and not just if you were a 90s goth kid). These things feed a wonderfully entertaining fiction for players and Mallrats (the GM) alike. Also, the scenario creators are amazing and their work (both here and elsewhere) is worth it.

This game is so much fun to run and my players loved it! It is easy to grasp, learn, and play, but has so many options for roleplay and story direction. I felt so supported as the GM with the NPC, store, and relationship descriptions. My players all want to play again and I can't wait to be their Mall Rat again!

This is a gorgeous and funny book. I often find nostalgia to be poison (one which admittedly I'm not immune to) but this feels like nostalgia in a really fun and wholesome way. The rules are nice and simple, the clear goals from the scenarios and the scene limits mean people are pushing to make things dramatic while also basking in the setting. It's a simple concept, but also a unique and fun one.

This game is a lot of fun. It is light (in both rules and subject matter) and easy to understand. The included material is perfect for getting a game started quickly and imaginative and clever.
